President ' s Message The Class of 1983 is a remarkable group of people. In the beginning of our Junior Year, competition was the name of the game. It seemed that everyone was competing against one an- other for a respectable class rank. However, as we entered our Senior Year, we all came together and put all aspects of competi- tion aside in order to face problems as a class instead of as a group of separate individuals. Throughout our four years at Westwood High School, educa- tion has been our main objective, and many members of the faculty have helped us along the way. This year, Mr. Flaherty stepped in to fill the role of Principal, and he has helped our class immensely. Miss Dillon also deserves our sincere thanks for all the hard work she has done to make our Senior Year as memora- ble as possible. The contributions of Tracy, Joe, and Mary were likewise invaluable throughout the year. I feel that the Class of 1983 has attained a level of achievement which surpasses that of many previous years. This is a very special group of people, and hopefully, we will all fulfill the goals which we have set out to accomplish. Valedictorian ' s Message In Japan, it ' s sayonara ; in Portugal, it ' s ate logo . In Ger- many, it ' s auf wiedersehen , and in Italy, it ' s arrivederci . In every country, in every language, there are words to express the universal thought. Now, the time has come for us to speak these words to each other: Good-bye and best wishes, until we meet again. We ' ve finally survived the last of these six make-or-break years together. For some, the time has lagged dreadfully; for others, the end has come alarmingly fast. Some are restless, eager to strike out on their own; others are uncertain, intimidated by new responsibility. At this point, we set out in uniquely different direc- tions, aimed for our respective goals, filled with the desire to accomplish and achieve. Whether we are aware of it or not, the experiences and relationships we ' ve encountered along the way have helped us develop the integrity and innovativeness to as- sume firm control of our lives. We are individuals of hope and talent, amply equipped to enter the next phase of life. So, with warmest wishes, Arrivederci, Class of 1983! . . . Good luck and God bless!
