Mrs. Maxine Broderick Head of Department Mrs. Dorothy Saltmarsh Science The curriculum offered in the Science Department includes some- thing to fascinate every student. In Biology, Chemistry and Physics, students may select courses that al- low them to proceed learning at their own rate. An independent study course permits selected stu- dents to experiment and research a field of special interest. Department head Mrs. Maxine Broderick and her assistants Mr. Gail Thwing, Mr. Raymond Keegan, Mr. Edward Marx, Mr. Ivan Van deWorkeen, Mr. Christos Sarris, Mr. Calvin Topalian, Mrs. Dorothy Salt- marsh and Mrs. Mary Crowell, schedule a variety of field trips to supplement both laboratory and class work. Creating opportunities for the student to excel in the fine arts and crafts is the job of the talented teaching trio of Mr. Thomas DelSignore, Mr. Michael Milan, and Mrs. Judith DesPres. Offering concentration in all of the fine-art areas including painting, illustration, sculpture and design, the Art Depart- ment strives to grant every student a chance to dabble in a variety of media. Whether the student ' s aim is to obtain the solid background necessary to further their art career or just to gain more insight on their own personal creative ability, Westwood High School ' s Art Department offers a suitable course. Mr. John Markarian Jr Head of Department % Under the guidance of two very dedicated directors, Mr. John J. Markarian Jr. and Mr. Sebastian Bonaiuto, the Westwood High School Music Department has lived up to its fantastic reputation by featuring many fine performances of their instrumental and choral en- sembles. Through their inspiration and leadership, there have been success- ful exchange and seasonal concerts, and a Pops Concert, competitions, and delightful half-time shows. Without Mr. Mark and Mr. B. this year ' s school musical Oklahoma could not have been a success. Mr. Thomas Del Signore Head of Department
