History because of all our efforts. Even though the band couldn ' t play the theme, Stairway-to- Heaven , everyone had a good time. In sports it was also a great year: The Football Team placed second in the Tri-Valley League, The Track Team made Tri-Valley Champs, the Basketball Team qualified for the Tech and placed third in the league. The girls Basketball Team took the Tri-Valley League Trophy and also qualified for the States; the girls ' Swim Team placed first at the Southern Mass. Divisional Meet. SENIORS!! Early September rumors of, we ' re almost outa here! seemed to an- nounce the Class of ' 75 ' s early case of se- nioritis, and we began our final year at WHS with enthusiasm and many weekend parties. Our status was totally achieved — now we were upperclassmen. We crowded the park- ing lots with our own cars, and we even enjoyed the aspect of OPEN campus. Crutches were an extra-common sight as each day someone else joined the elite group. College preparations hit us hard with more SAT ' S, college applications, and deadlines to meet. Our class was again awarded the privilege of hosting another AFS ' er, this year, Hans Ludvist from Sweden. The Senior Officers were President Andy Boyle, Vice- President Stephanie Andrews, Secretary Laurie Gaynor, and Treasurer Pat Tosi. Se- nior activities began early with the Hallo- ween Dance. Next came the Wheelchair Bas- ketball game, where Mr. Gearon couldn ' t stay in his chair. At the Senior- Ice Hockey Game the girls won 2-1 and the boys won 3-1, and one saw whip cream fights and sawed-off brooms. The Senior Class Banquet was Bungle-in-the-Jungle and with roast beef, pineapple centerpieces, and, live en- tertainment it proved to be quite an unfor- gettable and impressionable night. Steph- anie helped to meet the financial situation well with her donut-program, and Pat got most of the class to pay their dues. The Prom, Time-in-a-Bottle was held at the Sydney Hill Club, with Carol Mather, our queen reigning over all the festivities. De- spite the rain, Senior-Skip-Day at South Cape Beach was a success. As college accep- tances came in, preparations were made for our Senior-Class Play ONCE UPON A MATTRESS . Our class made its impact on the school with the numerous and varied pranks. Do you remember faintly hearing an alarm clock in the corridor, or sitting in the cafeteria watching a ten-pound bag of flour go crashing to the floor, or seeing a horse in the courtyard, or walking into the cafeteria on April 1st and seeing no chairs?! In sports, the Basketball Team were Semi-Finalists in the Tech Tourney, and they placed 4th in the League. The Track Team was the Mass. Suburban Indoor Track League Champs. The girls Basketball Team made Tri-Valley League Champs, and the girls Swim Team qualified for Mass. State Swimming Trials, The Boys Spring Track Team took the Tri- Valley League Championship and were the Tri-Valley League Conference Meet Cham- pions. Now that our years at WHS are over, we can reflect on the past with its memories and experiences and look forward to the future with its commitments and challenges. The future is ours — it will be what we make it. — Laurie Gaynor « 0 a

Class Four years ago we came to Westwood High School as a new freshman class, the lowest of the underclassmen. Starting with September orientation day, we began the slow and difficult transition from junior high to high school. We were bombarded with school maps, confusing computer schedule print-outs, and an occasional wrong direction from some sarcastic up - perclassman. Our first year took place amidst the confusion of school construc- tion, eating lunch in home rooms, and try- ing to go up the up-staircase,and not up the down-staircase. Our officers: President Donald Fitzpatrick, Vice-President Kathy Berkland, Secretary Linda Clancy, and Trea- surer John Atchue, worked enthusiastically on a Bruin ' s raffle that brought money to our non-existing treasury. On the sports scene, the Track Team became Dual County Champs, the Basketball Team earned the Dual County Championship. Silent studies were a common feature of our days as fresh- men, and we looked forward to a new liber- ation with the school ' s new addition and our sophomore status. As we advanced to sophomore status, we were welcomed by a 5.4 million dollar addi- tion and another year of confusion in the maze of new corridors, and no-pass areas, and a smoking courtyard. Also our sopho- more year celebrated a year of firsts for WHS. The first school musicale Bye-Bye Birdie was presented; the school newspaper The Sacred Cheese made its appearance; the Student Council store was started, and the One-Act Plays were introduced, all adding to a special year at WHS. The Drama De- partment provided the school with enter- tainment with its Fantasy Day and Fif- ties Day . Do you recall seeing your class- mates wearing bobby-socks and saddle shoes, invading the Little Theater for the twist contest? Our class officers were: Presi- dent John Atchue, Vice-President Stephanie Andrews, Secretary Laurie Gaynor, and Treasurer Kathy Yavarow. With our feet more solidly on the ground, we were able to have two class trips - one to the Boston Celtics and one to the Braves. Our treasury began to expand with numerous bake sales. At the end of our sophomore year, we were more content, eager to become juniors, as college pressures remamed distant. JUNIORS! We finally had made it to upperclassmen, and we felt self-assured and confident. Our junior year boomed with ac- tivities and chaos. As juniors, we were half in the doors of WHS and half out, as prepa- rations for college began with Saturday mornings and the alphabet of college testing - PSAT ' S, NMSQT ' S, SAT ' S, and ACT ' S. We began to discover and enjoy our junior status as we all obtained our drivers ' licenses and borrowed dad ' s car for school. Our class was also special to have Haris Stylaniou as a junior AFS ' er from Cyprus. Our class offi- cers: President John Atchue, Vice-President Stephanie Andrews, Secretary Laurie Gay- nor, and Treasurer Kathy Yavarow, pro- vided the class with many and varied activi- ties. The Semi- Formal Dinner, The Pops Concert (Might, and Junior-Skip Day with a little outside help from Debbie. (It seems senioritis began in our class as juniors, ju- nioritis!!!) The Prom was at the Chateau-de- Ville in Randolph, and although there were rumors of reservation hassles spread around the school, everyone was able to attend.
