Reach out and William J. Davis Department Head SOCIAL STUDIES The Social Studies Department, direc- ted by Mr. William Davis, renewed its trend of change. Anthropology, Chinese Civilization, and Indian Civilization were all new semester courses taught by Mr. Stack. Mr. Beurman ' s Sociology class con- tinued to draw interesting and informa- tive speakers to the school. The Music Department is under the direction of two talented and dedicated teachers, Mr. John Markarian and Mr. Sebastian Bonaiuto. Students are encouraged to par- ticipate in all types of activities; singing in the chorus, playing in the band, and writing original compositions. This year courses were offered in music theory and analysis, furthering their exposure to more of the many facets of music. Performances given during the year included the Christmas and Band Exchange Concerts. The year ' s highlight was the highly-successful presen- tation of the all-school musical, Guys and Dolls. Bonauto The art department under the talented direction of Mr. Thomas Delsignore, Miss Barta Brediger, and Mrs. Judith Des- Pres is making many opportunities in the art field available to Westwood High School students. Courses in ceramics, art, painting, crafts, and a new introductory class for freshmen allow students to explore new areas. The enlarged program includes more than thirty per cent of the total student body and prepares many of these students for further education in art. Barta Kay Brediger Thomas M.
