James J. Pender Department Head MATHEMATICS 1973-74 has been a year of settling in for the WHS Math Department after the innovations of the math seminar rooms and a more accessible computer. Team teaching continues to be an important part of the math program through which a student can progress at his own rate. The department con- tinues to direct three forms of competition during the year for math students: the Massachusetts Math Olympiad in the fall, the M.A.A. MEDIA CENTER Elizabeth Clement Nurse This year students at Westwood High received greater op- portunities to increase their knowledge through the extensive library facilities and audio-visual aids the media center has to offer. The educational equipnnent includes closed-cir cuit tele- vision, video-tape machines and micro-film readers. The upper floor of the media center houses the audio-visual aids while the lower floor contains the materials used for study and research.
