The 1980-81 Chipmunk reflects a year of growth and a year of change. Each one of us at Westwood High School has contributed to what our school is and what it will be. As we look back on the year we see the early days of September and the beginning of new experiences. Seniors prepare for their last year as a high school student and then on to their uncertain futures. Juniors face a year of decision as they begin to set their personal goals. Sopho- mores gain confidence in themselves as they gain a year of experience while the Freshmen learn about a new and different way of life. Your yearbook captures the memories and emotions of the 1980-81 school year. The beauty of homecoming, the challenge of athletic competition, and simply good times with good friends; this is the spirit of Westwood. The real meaning of any reflection comes from the person who sees it. Let each page, each picture, and each word lead you to reflect on what this year has meant to you. DEDICATION This year's annual is dedicated to a man we all know and love, Mr. Charles S. Clary, our principal and superintendent. During his eleven years in this position he has contributed immeasurably to the school's activities and projects. He has always given of himself in a manner far exceeding the requirements of his job. Mr. Clary is retiring at the end of this year to pursue a life of relaxation and enjoyment. He and his wife, Dorothy, will continue to reside in the Lake Alamanor peninsula area. Mr. Clary will always be with us though and be remembered for the man he is; a kind warm person with a true love for his school and it's students. Good luck Mr. Clary, and may life be as good to you as you have been to Westwood High School. 4 ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION 1980-81 FACULTY Phil Bryant Adm. The varsity Jacks finished number one in total de- fense for all of superior California. Led by senior co-captains Dan Hogan and Mark Ritchie the team was at the top of several statistical categor- ies. There are con- stant problems with deadlines, missing pictures, no film, lack of supplies, and missed assignments. It is hard work, but it can bring a group of people very close together to work for a common goal. As these pictures show, we had a lot of fun too.
