Varsity Football Coach Seth Moger Although the past season was not a success as far as the won and lost record was con- cerned, it was an educational experience for all the boys who participated. The sea- son provided a learning situation which will be beneficial to our teams in the future. One of the lessons the players learned was that you don't get something for nothing. In order to be a success on or off the field requires a great deal of hard work, self discipline, and self sacrifice. It also involves the ability of an individual or team to bounce back after defeat or failure and face the challenges of the future. It is a trib- ute to this year's team that although out-manned and outplayed in several games, they continued to work hard in search for a victory. Their efforts were rewarded in the final game of the season as they came from behind to earn a victory that was well deserved. It is hoped that the lessons learned and the experiences gained this season will help in meeting the challenges of the future - both on and off the athletic field. ww vs Big Valley TROPHY WINNERS ww vs Herlong Ray Craig Most Valuable Player ww vs Quincy Best Offensive Back ww vs Porto la Dave Dyer Most Improved Player ww vs Chester Andy Ferguson Best Defensive Lineman ww vs Greenville Dick Cowley Best Offensive Lineman ww vs Loyalton Albert Giannotti Best Defensive Back Award 28 29 RACK ROW: Coach Mr. Hasselwander, Mannuel Gutierrez, Dennis Valdez, Brad Bennight, Frank Pearl, Jon Nichols, Jim Brewer, Todd Jacobs. The successful functioning of any football program, large or small, depends to a great extent upon the establishment and maintenance of morale - the esprit de corps that permeates the administration of the institution involved, the faculty, the student body, the graduates and other supporters, and certainly the players themselves. Give any co ch , all of this, and he has that thing called morale, that esprit de corps that makes his task a challenge, above all, TO WIN! 30 31 Homecoming Homecoming was held October 26,1968. The Lumberjacks played Greenville and lost, but it was still a nice Homecoming. The dance which was sponsored by the Junior's that night was a great success. The theme was Paris In the Fall.
