Football Team Joins Feather River League The 1963 edition of the Westwood High School varsity football team will compete in the Feather River League. Although Westwood's 1962 football season was, in the main, unspectacular, hopes are high for a winning team in '63, as three junior lettermen are returning, along with seven sophomores and at least eight freshmen from the junior varsity. B. Phillips cuts out with the skin under protection of R. McNeely. M. Mentas chases a loose one for a Westwood recovery. J.V. Football Team Wins 3, Loses 2 The junior varsity football team, under the direction of Mr. Narwold, won three football games this year while losing two. The J. V. won over Chester twice and beat Lassen in the season finale. This was the first year that a J. V. team has been organized at Westwood High. Next year's prospects look good for the J. V.'s, as the team will open play in the Feather River League. Some of the mainstays of the J. V. team this year were: Steve Haas, Frank Troutman(who scored 24 points for the season to lead the point makers), Carroll Little, and Jerry Rather.
