Yell Leaders Our Yell Leaders are certainly worthy of the praise and admiration of the student body for their efforts in en- couraging school spirit and keeping our teams' morale at a high pitch. Without the four girls seen here in these two pictures leading us in school spirit we would have had a rather uncheery cheering section. Thanks loads, girls!! From the Left: Eliza- beth Schofield, Carol Oxford, Connie Mendoza and Jill Bingham. Our Radio The Radio Club is a new addition to West- wood High's Co-curricular organizations. Mr. Ron House, the advisor to the club, inspired an interest in radio amongst several students and the radio club was on its way. The club is de- voted to the learning of radio reception and transmission. The club has installed its own transmitter and receiver and has contacted many overseas stations. The members are also trained to pass their amateur radio license exams. Best of luck to this new addition! Club FRONT ROW: J. Miranda, J. John- son, and T. Gailey. STANDING: Mr. House, Rich Anderson, W. Snider, E. Jones, R. Dickson, J. Tyler, D. Snook. 28

The 1958 Lumberjack football season was a proud season for the students, community and the players. Although the season was short and it began on a sour note with a 60 to 0 loss at Loyalton, there were many opportunities for rejoicing. A 42 to 12 victory over the Portola Junior Varsity brought the team to its feet and from there on out they were hard to beat. After a hard-fought battle the Lumberjacks lost to Surprise Valley 12 to 20. They beat Beiber 60 to 6 and then almost upset highly-rated Chester in the final game of the season 26 to 12. Hats off to the 14 Varsity men and the six Junior Varsity Men who stuck it out through thick and thin, and also to the student body who gave the team its moral support!
