ADminiSTRRTIUE COUflCIL EXECUTIUE COmmiTTEE The Administrative Council, being the highest court of the school, helps govern student and school affairs. The Council is composed of ten members, five students and five faculty members. The faculty members are Mr. Ray Haskell, principal; Mr. Leonard Randall, vice-principal; Mr. Joseph Swift, director of student body activities: Mrs. Margaret Frodsham. registrar; and Mr. Orrin Hoffman, director of athletics. The student members are David Edwards and Dorothy Goins, senior repre- sentatives; Tommy McDonald, junior representative: Harlan Warwick, sophomore representative: and Lyle Cloud, student body president. Throughout the year the Council was con- fronted with a number of problems, both school and com- munity. One of the problems concerning the school was un- excused absences and tardies, which resulted in the assign- ment of detention periods. The community problem was traffic. In the Council, a student committee was formed to improve the safety habits of our students. This committee worked to- gether and put on assemblies concerning the safety of the students and adults of Westwood. The Administrative Council was very successful in working out the problems which confronted them. The Executive Committee meets each Monday during 6th period under the guidance of Mr. Joseph Swift. It is composed of all student body officers. In addition, the tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades each have three elected representatives. The powers and duties of Executive Committee are: 1— To make and enforce any rules necessary for the better- ment of the school, its life and interests. 2— To grant charters to clubs and other school organizations. 3— To approve all athletic and special awards upon recom- mendations of the coach and principal. A—To supervise all matters concerning extracurricular ac- tivities and the payment of bills. 5— All awards recommended by teachers will be subject to the approval of the committee. 6— Shall grant awards other than those mentioned above.
