-3 YEAR CIAINED BY LL-AMERICAN BACKS For coach loe Pico, it was a very learning year as a first year head coach. He had to deal with problems such as inexperience, injuries, and the flu bug. As far as the inexperience goes, Coach Pico had a total of thirteen lettermen returning from the previous year. Of those thirteen, only five of them were starters on offense or defense. Westwood was blessed with the best one-two punch in the state. Running back Ronnie Boner and fullback Al C-lasenapp were both chosen as All-Americans. These two players were both scouted very heavily by college scouts throughout the year. Outstanding games for the Tribesmen were against Mesa, Coronado, and McClintock. Against Mesa, the game was a defensive battle, as the final score was 13-6. The Warriors exploded in the second half against Coronado, to give them a 48-18 victory. Homecoming grads were delighted with a thriller, as Westwood scored in the final three minutes to beat McClintock 20-14.
