Now that the student Assembly And an i 3 1 lv- v council is officially sworn in they prepare to take on the responsibilities of making a successful school year. ce Begin School Year An impressive ceremony was held September 6th in the auditorium. The Honor Choir led the opening with the Alma Mater. Following the introduction by Janet Tolman, our Foreign Exchange Student, Eva Vuorenmaaa spoke to the student body. Steve Huffaker was sworn in as Student Body President by Mr. Brimhall. The other officers of the Student Council were also sworn in at this time. Mr. Brimhall talked to the students about school responsibility. The cheerleaders led the students in several cheers as the Student Council prepared for the skit that was presented. The Council portrayed progress through the school years with humor and comedy. That evening was the first big dance of the year - The Hello Party. The large crowd danced to the music of Beau Geste on the tennis courts. Refreshments were served by the Student Coun- cil. This dance was a unique way to start off the year at Westwood. AT LEFT' Happiness and enthusiasm shows on the faces of many of the Westwood Warriors as they enjoy themselves at the first all school dance, the Hello Party. The dance took place out of doors, for the first time, on the tennis courts and was very successful. Opening Assembly and Dance - 21
