. A Committees Strive to Maintain Rallies And Traditions The Rallies and Traditions Committee main duties were to promote school traditions, spirit and ideals. The committee was also in charge of pep rallies, organized cheering and color day and student awards. They helped to boost school spirit in many ways. There were many events and activities which came under the committees iurisdictian. The first of these was the pep rally held the night before the first football game. It started with a parade through downtown and ended with a skit held at the football field. The committee assisted the band and homecoming royalty in presenting an exciting half time show for the returning alumni. Next was the Warrior Pow Wow held be- fore the Mesa-Westwood game. The Rallies and Traditions Committee organized this class competition event. The committee was also responsible for Teacher Appreciation Week and Cafeteria and Grounds Appreciation Week. Citizenship To promote higher patriotic standards toward the country and school were of primary importance to the Citizenship Committee. Every Monday morn- ing The Citizenship Director led the entire student body in the Pledge of Allegiance. Year long campaigns against litter and poor assembly conduct were also carried out by the committee. One of the foremost concerns of the Committee was the New Students Program. Each month the student council sponsored a party for all new students who had entered Westwood during the previous month. These parties helped the new students to adiust to WHS. The planning and giving of these parties was the -responsibility of this com- mittee. The Citizenship Committee also worked with the codes of dress and behavior. A main goal of the committee was to make the entire student body aware of these rules. 16 GOVERNMENT 5 Q A , - 4 3. A i va . It 13551.9?3..'?E?'s.4Tf'i .'2a.'T45iI!!'
