DRAMATIC CLUB PLAY This years Dramatic Club Play was entitled “The Baby Sitter.” Carrie had spent her “sitting-savings” on a beautiful new outfit and father had lent her the car for the big date—when all the trouble began. Her boy friend Bob couldn’t go so she volunteered to “baby-sit” for the boss’ children who were staying at Bob’s home. Instead of impressing Bob’s parents, the father nearly lost his job. When Carrie saved the life of the boss’ son, the boss realized what an imp he had and what a jewel Carrie was. So Bob and Carrie went happily on their date—not to the movie but to a dance at the country club. Under Miss Somers able direction the characters gave the audience an enjoyable evening. The “fighting tigers” came in with a blaze of glory and went out in the true fashion of a champion. The “Bolin men” started with a 97-37 victory over Catlin and ended by getting squeezed out of the Regional Tourney crown in the last seconds of an overtime. The team won first place in the Sidell Tournement; then added first place in the hard to win County Tournament to their laurals. They finished a very strong second to Danville in the long to be remembered Regional Tourney. The orange and black wave swept to a winning streak of 17 straight games. They concluded the season with a very commendable 23-4 record. It is one of the best records ever established by a Westville five. The names of Sibons, Cooke, Cook, and Shapuras, the graduating seniors, shall long be remembered in the halls of dear old W.H.S. We were proud to have these boys wearing the traditional orange and black of our school. They were truly the “fighting tigers”.
