Bobbie Lee Carter The Girl Reserves had a very happy beginning because Westport Junior brought home the Inter Club Shield in May 1926. There has been a large and active membership throughout the year. The Westport Junior Girl Reserves have done some line service work. At Christmas time they made a family of seven children happy giving them food, clothing, and toys. The Girl Reserves in the sewing department dressed a doll for the Japanese Doll Festival in Japan. In February we tied with Central Jr, at the mideyear Shield award. The central theme this year has been The Patchwork Quilt. Every meeting represented some patch in the quilt. At Christmas a beautiful star was added tn the quilt. At the health meeting n red flannel patch was added. The most interest- ing patch was the plaid patch of fun which was ndded by the Valentine party. The Westport Jr. Girl Reserve Club is one of fun and friends and service, living out its purpose, Tn find and give the best. ' J Page Forty-lawn

This is the first class to be so honored. It is in truth a new It departure, for the first year pupils lose the certificate given to nll students finishing 2 the seven years of elementary work. So at last the junior high school is recognized as a unit in the Kansas City school system of six years in elementary schools, two years in junior high, three years in senior high, and two years in junior college.
