Saal aLept : Avza Don Mary ANN HELEN THE SOCIAL DEPARTMENT FOR 48-9 was HEADED BY Joyce Root. HER ASSISTANTS WERE JOANNE RUNNING=SENIOR, Don SHaw=JuNIOR, HELEN SHARTEL=SOPHOMORE, AND Mary ANN TINIAKAS==FRESHMAN. AFTER JOANNE RUNNING'S GRADUATION AT MID=TERM, ALZA GROUNDS WAS APPOINTED TO BE THE SENIOR REPRESENTATIVE. THE FIRST SOCIAL FUNCTION WAS THE TRADITIONAL FRESHMAN INITIATION AND DANCE, WHEN HALOWEEN ROLLED NEAR WE HELD A PARTY AMID LEERING JACK OTLANTERNS AND WEIRD LIGHTS. IN DECEMBER WE ENJOYED THE ANNUAL CHRISTMAS AND ALUMNI PARTIES. THE CHRISTMAS PARTY WAS HELD IN THE STUDY HALL AFTER REMOVAL OF THE SEATS AND PROVED TO BE A BIG SUCCESS. OUR FINAL BIG SOCIAL AFFAIR WAS A BARN DANCE IN MARCH, ACCORDING TO THE STUDENTS IT WAS THE BEST PARTY THEY EVER AT— TENDED DURING THEIR HIGH SCHOOL YEARS. GuS AND ELLEN ANOERSON PROVIDED THE MUSIC IN THE AROMA OF A LITTLE OVERAGED HAY.
