Though our years at Westport High will soon be gone, the memories of the graduating class of 1979 will linger on. Before all our time runs out, we shall help you recall the past and present, the most important times of our lives. In our first year at Westport High School we started as typical freshmen, electing Julie Berube as president, Lisette Hitt as vice-president, Lisa Gallant as secretary, and LouAnn Gracia as treasurer. Miss Nancy L. DeFaria was appointed as our class advisor, and with her help in organizing class projects, our first year was a big success. We rounded off this year with a trip to New York City. We entered our sophomore year with an array of changes to our staff of class officers. Leading the way were Jean Adams as president, Colleen Morse as vice-president, Kelly Robertson as secretary, and Brenda Trecida as treasurer. Along with the guidance of Miss DeFaria we designed our class ring as a keepsake of our high school years. Beginning our junior year as upper classmen, we elected Jean Adams as president, Sue Lemar as vice- president, Mary Anne Bolduc as secretary, and Karen Fernandes as treasurer. We were very excited about our Junior Prom, but due to the Blizzard of ’78 it was postponed and we held our Valentine Prom in March. Towards the end of this year we organized our yearbook staff. We finished it with great anticipation of having a prosperous senior year. Our senior year began with Sue Lemar as president, Liz Hill as vice-president, Julianne Feliz as secretary, and Karen Fernandes as treasurer. Our yearbook was in full swing by the beginning of the year, and our projects were very successful. This last year we have come together as friends, and joined to help our class succeed. Although time will separate us, the memories of each other will live through the years. We are now leaving Westport High School and the hour glass is turning to a new beginning — the future. We must answer its call and face the world of challenge. 28 ££ ear Your , Choo| a spirit 3.50 will Buy from the class oF {oUQ tShir’ 6 ? “Puppy Love!” “Row, row, row, your boat!” Lights, camera, action! Michelle Duquette and Sue Melanson were elected as President and Vice-President respectively. Recording all affairs will be Teri Cote as Secretary. Keeping careful watch over the “piggy bank” will be Debbie Quinn, Treasurer. Placing complete control of the Senior Citizen group in the hands of these youthful few will be interesting to watch. This will be their first attempt to bridge the “generation gap” in this manner. Made public was their first compromise concerning events. It was decided that there would be no more than two crocheting races conducted by Cheryl Sim- oes, Lisa Estrella, and Donna Dwelly, and at least one spectacular ‘Slow Disco” for all members with the committee being headed by Lisa Bibeau, Lisette Hitt, and Julie Berube. At the disco, there will be a $5 cash prize to be divided among the 10 best dancers. The judges of the “high stepping’ event will be Laurie Rebello, Jenny Avila, and Tracy Hawes. It should be noted that there will be rest periods at the dance for the ju dges who need them. This year promises to be their most unusual ever. SYLVIA GIVEN FAVA POWER Jack Sylvia was appointed by the ruler of Portugal to be the chief purchasing agent for the country’s entire Fava Bean supply. In this position, he must sample every Fava crop before purchase. Jack will definitely have to use the “old bean” as well as like it. IMPARTIAL PARTY SIGHTS PONTE The recently formed Impartial Party sighted Norbert Ponte as their future Presidential hopeful in the 1990 elections. Charles Souza’s name has also been men- tioned as a running mate. If chosen, their campaign slogan will be “When you go to the polls ... don’t decide, vote impartial!”’ LIFE ON SATURN Professor Carl Pereira has just discovered life on the planet Saturn. Yesterday, he returned from a trip to Saturn and commented that it is a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. 68 Westport, Mass., Saturday, June 10, 1989 NEW AIR SPEED RECORD Jet Pilot, John Desmarais, gained fame today as he succeeded in breaking the presently held speed record. The custom jet was designed and built by Russell Chace. The famous duo plan to do even more in the field of flying once they get an engine. When this happens, they may decide to fly passengers. We know of only two stewardess brave enough to fly with their airplane. They are fearless flyers, Dawn Sampson and Lori Sylvia. COMPUTER SPECIALISTS STUMPED Last month computer specialists Sue Jusseaume, Mark Smith, Rene Laurendeau, and LouAnn Gracia were summoned totogether by world leaders to program the largest computer now in existence. Their efforts to date have been fruitless. The computer constantly displays “Mickey Mouse Club” re-runs. The experts plan to correct the problem in the near future. UNUSUAL FINDINGS James Carreiro, Mike Florea, and Teri Choquette as a joint venture discovered gold in Westport. Jeff King, Mayor of the town, commented on this as an histori- cal finding which should make the threesome rich and famous. PECULIAR PARTY Millionaire, Glenn Flynn, held a gala party aboard his yacht last evening in honor of the noted Parlia- mentary interpreter for the United Nations, Laura Antimiani. The lavish affair was enhanced by the floral decor of Linda Ferreira. The unbelieveable mu- sic of Joe Fontaine and the “Kid Kools’. A superb dinner was prepared by Frank Alves and Clayton Talbot. The blast would have been a great success had Flynn’s personal aide, Linda Cardozo, remem- bered to send the invitations. The event lacked noth- ing, but guests. CORVETTE TRAVEL The Corvette Travel Agency is sponsoring tours of Westport. Reservations for the tours can be made by contacting Denise Fournier, Manager. Tour Guide, Martha Sullivan, will drive you through Westport in a 1972 Corvette. SECRETARIES PLAN MARCH The United Secretaries League, headed by Lisa Gal- lant and Cathy Santos, are planning a massive dem- onstration against the large typewriter manufacturers for defects in their products. They claim their typing is flawless but the typewriters are misspelling. A solution if doubtfu l. NEW CPA FIRM A new accounting firm has been introducted to our area. The certified public accountants which com- prize the firm are Pat Tripp, Liz Hill, and Sherrie Kirby. The Corporation name will be “Facts and Figures for a Fee, Inc.” BUSINESS WORLD Ronald Alvares and Kenneth Amaral announce the opening of their own Clam Shack. They are offering a free clam-cake with every purchase. They also men- tion that their “shack” was designed and built by the Stephen Resendes Building Company. GOSSIP COLUMN For the past ten years, Mike Tavares and Sharon Tripp have been secretly meeting at the junction of 128N and 128S. This has finally been made public by Caroline M. Souza, only because she was hired by the town to translate the notes that Sharon and Mike would leave. Heidi Phipps is wealthy, high and happy. She owns the Penthouse in the RCA building. Michael Alves is now the owner of the “Wild and Crazy Disco Palace’. He has created a new dance called Ambition. David Morse is now training huskies in Alaska. He never got to be a lifeguard. NEW LOOK AHEAD Hairstylists Nancy Bernier, Laurie Cookson, and Jen- nifer McIlwaine are attempting to promote the ‘“‘bald look” for both men and women. They realize that the winter months will be chilly, but it makes their job so much easier. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Q. What ever happened to Kelly Robertson after graduation?
