After long hours of preparation and hard work, we the Class of 1969, do proudly pre- sent our completed yearbook. It contains both happy and sad memories of events through- out our high school years. We shall always remember Westport High School and its influence on our hopes, goals, and achievements. introduction student body faculty senior class activities sports solicitations dedication If ever a prize were awarded for sheer endurance, it would have to go to a class advisor. And were the con- test held today, we would cast a unan- imous vote for our own Mr. James E. Wills Jr. Words alone can never express the eratitude and affection we hold for him. In spite of every imaginable obstacle, he has managed to keep us unified and standing—a monumental accomplishment in its own right. Mr. Wills has been more than a mere advisor; he’s been a loyal and trusted friend. It is, therefore, with fond farewell and sincere best wishes that we dedicate this yearbook to our class advisor, Mr. James E. The coming year will probably remain more vivid in your mind than any other. To achieve any degree of success, I feel that you must devote special attention to the following: school involvement, class unity, and individual achievement. Involvement in extra-curricular activities is the key which will open the door to personally rewarding experiences. The right kind of involvement should also promote concrete improvements in your school and community. Active involvement, rather than endless verbal dissension resulting from personality clashes, will be the most important factor in the achievement of any goal you set your sights on. The success of your class will greatly depend upon the degree of unity and co-operation it will be able to attain. Even the most capable and efficient leader will be unable to achieve the goals of your class if he does not have the full support of a unified and effective body behind him. Your individual achievements and future successes, too, will depend largely upon how well you seize educational opportunities which your school makes available to you. Use all of these ways to develop your abili- ties to the fullest extent and to round out your personality. Be an individual in every sense of the word. Do not hesitate to question honestly, take the initiative, and move positively in the direction which you choose. We, the class of 1969, wish you much happiness and success in the future. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. 84 activities D aa © 7 © CO ea a © C2 a oe! See you in September She’s A Lady Please Help Me I’m Falling My Diane I Am The Egg Man Skinny Legs And All Little Arrows The search for truth is an endless quest, Not a frivolous game, not a sport in jest. But can the boundless mind of man Inform society, guide it’s hand? 97 CLASS COLORS: Tangerine and White CLASS SONG To the tune of “My Cup Runneth Over” Oh look, look what’s happened, I’ve finally grown old. It happened so quickly, Just like I was told. School’s starting, it’s ending; I’m left on my own. One fear—can I face life alone? One moment you’re happy, One moment you’re sad. Yet always we wish For something not had. In age, wisdom’s easy, In youth, needed though. Oh why does this life fool me so? At last school is over, A new life begun. All life stretched before me, So much not yet done. But never so happy Will I ever be. It’s too bad I’m too young to see. PATRICE DUPRE CLASS FLOWER: Tea Rose CLASS POEM “Eternal youth” seems a farce indeed When the trials of life sprout up like weeds. With truth concealed we find cause to wonder: Can we rescue the world from society’s blunders ? The search for truth is an endless quest, Not a frivolous game, not a sport in jest. But can the boundless mind of man Inform society, guide its hand? Though we’re often misled and mis- guided youth, We'll continue our quest for right and truth. For the fate of the planet lies in our hands, And we'll not be stopped by society’s bans. LITERARY EDITORS GAIL AGUIAR Gail is a happy-go-lucky girl Who is friendly all the while.
