Wrong Door Here he comes, George! Party at Nanc’s Picnic at Wilma’s Don’t get sick i i ae Nancy’s 17 Out of season Party at Nanc’s “May I have a pass?” Beach party at Jan’s Advice to the Juniors The Class of 1954, upon graduating, leaves to the Junior class a vacancy we are sure will be gladly filled. As seniors, we have had many pleasant times, and know that you will, too. Remember, among them will be many discouraging moments. We have been leaders in many phases of school activities, and have strived to set a good example for you to follow. A good example is the best heritage a graduating class may leave. In cooperation with the faculty, plan your work efficiently. Join, support and contribute to extra-curricular activities. Activities not only pro- vide recreation, but offer an opportunity for learning to the serious member. Attend class meetings regularly, vote wisely, and above all, respect your leaders, for herein lies the strength of any class. Leadership in your class must be developed. The senior year requires strong and able guidance that cannot be the responsibility of one member. Inherent in the four years we have spent in Westport High School are memories we can never forget. We now look upon the future, hoping it will hold opportunities and success for all of us. Before leaving, we extend a most hearty welcome to the Juniors and wish them every success as Seniors. Ronald White Boys’ Sports DAVENPORT Dud was undoubtedly our most valuable player. He led the team in most depart- ments and made good use of his height by controlling the boards. Dud was named to the Massachusetts Class D All-Star Team, and was also a unanimous choice for the All-Narry Team. POIRIER Paul was our set shot artist and joins with Roy in making the plays. He constantly thrilled the crowds with his long sets which were usually good for two points. SEXTON _ Joe was not only among the highest scorers, but grabbed his share of the rebounds. Joe is ambidextrous and is especially effective on a corner set. ROY Roger was another important cog in the teams successful season. Roy scored con- stantly throughout the season with sets and driving hooks. Roy also has two years ahead of him. Roger was the other member of the Westport squad to be named to the Massachusetts Class D All-Star Team DYSON Dyce was our number three guard, and whenever called upon, was always ready to play his best. He displayed a one hand push shot and an occasional driving under- hand lay-up. Al still has another year to play for Westport. LEES Charlie was always ready to go in and fight for Westport whenever summoned. Charlie doesn’t mind a rough game, because he can give as well as take. RODERIGUES George is one of our best forwards. Al- though he is not a remarkable point-getter, he did contribute many points to the victory parade. George is also a valuable man under the boards. WHITE, FADDEN, DENAULT Ron, Dunc, and Dana rounded out our top ten. Although they did not always see action, they were in good shape and always ready. All three saw action throughout the season at forward and center positions. aca i First Row, Left to Right: Mr. Hall, Al Dyson, Ron White, Charlie Lees, Joe Sexton, Dud Davenport, Paul Poirier, George Rodrigues, Duncan Fadden, Roger Roy, Coach Cariglia. Elenor Tee Dee Agnes Girls’ Sports ELEANOR CABRAL Eleanor is one of the eight that will be back for next year’s team. Her speed has been a valuable asset to the team this year. JANET BRANCH Janet has done a good job in controlling the backboards and passing in her four years of basketball. She is known for her end to end passes to Tee-Dee. ELENOR REGO Elenor is our tiniest team mate. Her size however has been no hindrance in her basketball ability. Elenor has aided the team with her close guarding and speedy dribbling. TERESA GAUDREAU Teresa is one of our speediest forwards. Her swift passing ability and quick pivoting have aided all our victories. Teresa also set a new Narry League record this year, scoring 37 points in the Dartmouth game. SUSAN PHINNEY Susan was our highest scorer this season. She did most of her scoring with an effec- tive overhead shot. Suzie is known for her cool easy-going manner on the floor. HELEN PIETRZYK Helen is effective in retrieving distant re- bounds and aided the team with her passing ability. She has a good lay-up shot which she uses quite freely. AGNES SYLVIA Agnes is our most spirited player. Distant rebounding and pass interception are her specialties. She has added much life to the team and has two more years to play for Westport. ELIZABETH CAMARA Liz is our all around athlete. She has been on all the girls athletic teams throughout her four years. Her favorite is softball and she is usually the first one on the diamond in spring. The second team had a very successful season. They lost one game, tied two, and won five. The members of the second team will have gained much valuable experience by next season. The second team members include: Pat Wood, captain, Pat LaRocque, Virginia Cabral, Merva Hopkinson, Louella Butts, Diane Perry, Eleanor Shields, Gloria Hebert, Ann Schelter, Naney Smith, Carol Smith, Shirley Plante, Barbara Sharples and Jane Stasz.
