THE CLASS C CLASH The 1987 Eagle football team entered the Double A season with a surprising clash. The Double A season began with the defeat of Springfield 7-6. This victory raised their hopes for a successful season. Going into the Double A season was a tremendous challenge, ac- cording to Coach Roger Perry, but that challenge was met by our young men. Although their destiny wasn't to go to the playoffs, the Eagles did go to the Highlander Braggin' Bowl in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Coach Perry added It was a trip made with a class bunch of boys, and a trip that I will never forget. The Eagles defeated Sea- more County with a score of 24-7. A lot of frustrations, for both the Eagles and myself, came to an end that night. - Jackie Kelley .. A third down and time running on the clock -- Springfield was behind 7-6 and the defensive players made a tremendous effect on the field goal attempt. I watched the crowd, not the play, and saw excite- ment. 1 saw 11 young men exhausted, but knowing they had overcame the first ob- stacle of class Double A. This was a mc-f ment in itself.
