PROUD TO BE AN EAGLE During my senior year here at WHS I was privileged to serve along with Roger Meador as co-editor of the school year- book We were lucky enough to be working under the watchful eye of Mrs Carolyn Winn All year we planned and worked - and planned and worked - - ward making that the best yearbook ever' that day in the spring when yearbooks arrived and were unveiled at a student assembly ln the auditorium That glorious day finally arrived' Word leaked out to us editors that for some strange reason Mrs Winn was carefully guarding our treasure in the office and that there might not be the long- awaited unveiling on that day We were crushed' How dare she? That was our yearbook and we had a right to view the finished product Much to our dismay, our baby was not perfect Yes there were a few flaws But even those flaws could not diminish the pride we held in a Job we considered well-done go on that day and I will never forget the feeling of success and pride I felt pride not only in myself but ln the wonderful school of which I was a part Even today that Eagle pride runs deep and I can still say that I am proud to be a part of WHS' Mrs Susan Graves to . . . CLASSIC MOMENTS A classic moment for me was when I received the Plaque Award for the Most Outstanding Student at my graduation from Westmoreland High School in 1966. Cheryl Cox When I had enough money to buy my first and only car - my 1972 Chevy Nova , April Hubbard One day while I was a student at Al- len County High School the principal decided that the students were mak- ing too much noise in the halls be- tween classes. He made a new rule that there would be no loud talking. Forgetting all about the new rule I saw one of my friends at the other end of the hall and yelled to her. She answered and we had a loud conver- sation. After we got to class the prin- cipal came over the PA system and announced to my embarrassment my name along with three others who were making too much noise. Maxine Johnson As a music major in college I tried out for the university bands field commander position. It was a very important position and a female was very unlikely to be selected When the director called us in to give the results I found I had been selected. As I left the try-out area all of my high school field commander stu- dents met me with flowers. I felt this was very special knowing that they would be. Rita Garner Once upon a time I had a Sophomore English Class. In this class one day a girl decided to announce to the class and to me that she loved me. The statement was a surprise to every- one but her. Unfortunately due to a sinus problem I was having at the time fand probably momentary high blood pressureb my nose began to bleed. Without an explanation Qand no handkerchief! I left the room. When I returned about two minutes later the girl was in her seat all was quiet and class resumed.
