At the time I had just recently graduated from high school and had never been anywhere. Following much confusion and the passing of several hours a relative finally found me. Glenda Akins During high school I remember when my eleventh grade English class went to a mansion in Richmond, Vir- ginia and we took pictures of our- selves around the estate as we were dressed in 20's attire. We were re- enacting The Great Gatsby for a slide presentation, which was an enrich- ment activity after reading the book. We had fun posing as F. Scott Fitz- gerald's many characters. We dreamed that we were living the life of the rich, with their many luxuries, the fancy cars, the oriental tapes- tries, the designer clothes, fine china, crystal and silver etc. Laura Wootten I went to a one-room school during first grade. We students had to share a double desk. One day when my desk partner was visiting with an- other student, I chewed all her para- fin black mustache that she had brought to school. It tasted wonder- cried when she discovered and told the teacher. That ful. She her loss moment, however, begins another story. Wanda Johnson
