PRI CIPAL Graduating from college with honors after being told by a teacher that he would not make it is one of Mr. Old- ham's greatest accomplishments. He credits another teacher, an English teacher from high school, for turning his life around. She instilled in me a feeling of self confidence. She made me feel like I was someone special. She also taught an Honors History Class and when I approached her about being in her class, she said that she would be delighted. It gave me a sense of self-esteem and belonging. These negative and positive experiences motivated him to enter the field of education. He wants to ensure that all students be treated fairly and equally. L95:l' f' 'l1l'l GRADUATING CLASS OF 88 Graduation is far from being an end, it is the beginning of all your tomorrows. Over the past several years you have worked and studied, and now you are here, ready to begin your lives as members of the adult community. For some of you, this will mean a job and the responsibilities of family living. For others, this will mean college and further years of study and preparation. Whatever course your future takes, it is my sincere hope that you will look back on your years here as having prepared you to meet and deal with the challenges that life will present. vcr? x t no ' ICE PRI CIPAL GENE FERGUSON During Mr. Ferguson's early years of teaching, he was approached after a graduation ceremony by a young man whom he had taught in class and coached in football. They shook hands and the young man did something that will never be forgotten by him. He sincerely thanked Mr. Ferguson for all that he had done for him. This moment is a special one for him because he had done for him only what he had tried to do for all of his students. The thank you helped him to realize that the job he was doing was important and that he was doing it effectively. According to Mr. Ferguson, this experience has been a motivating factor for me to continue in education.
