Below: The 1987-88 Eaglette Seniors are: Lee Tuttle, Angie Borders, and Jan Mandrell. - -Xl - v J- fra J' , 1 ,Y blocks SHOOTING FOR THE BEST In the midst of a Winning season ln AA Coach Bobby Hopkins obtained his 500th win That game was against Greenbrier where the final score was 74 30 In that game senior Jan Mandrell had game honors with 27 points She was followed by senior Angie Borders with 17 points Also senior Lee Tuttle chipped in three points. These three girls have played basketball for Westmoreland since seventh grade and all three are in the top of their class academically. Coach Hopkins' girls keep busy with practices, games, and study- ing. Their hope this year, as it is every year, is to make a consecutive trip to TSSAA Girl's State Tournaments. Coach James Anderson retired from coaching this year, after a career of 33 years. His coaching spanned from 1954 to 1964 and 1976-87. His coaching was interrupted by being Westmoreland's principal for twelve years. Coach Anderson states, I enjoyed the games, but coaching is a young man's game. A player from the past Billy Joe Perry says, He was an easy going coach: he wasn't a coach with a fiery temper. We congratulate Coach Ander- son on a job well done. Derrick Cannon, and Greg Law.
