CLASS HISTORY In 1945 the Class of 1957 started its short stay in Westmoreland under the leadership of Mrs. Burns and Mrs. Love. Of those who started, the following 12 made it through the next twelve years. Peter Bradlinski, Cathy Dawes, Maryann Fallat, Rosalie Lyman, Florence McDonough, Doris Reese, Nancy Rushford, Edward Sabik, Howard Walker, Charles Storey and Lloyd Storey. In 1946, with Mrs. Scoville and Mrs. Lewis, Marcia Froschauer, Edwin Storey, Thomas Wetherell and Neil Swingruber increased our class by four. Our ranks remained the same in 1947 under the direction of Mrs. Judge and Mrs. Lewis. Mrs. Judge also guided us through the year of 1948. The addition to the class this year was Doreen Ryan. , In 1949 the Class of 1957 moved over to the Chicken Coop with Mrs. Rahmlow taking charge. This year Madonna Oster, Ruby Sikes, Carlton Kit- chen and Leo Le Chevet joined us. Still in the Chicken Coop in 1950, Sharon Smith, Linda Henry, and Jim Sobik were added to the class. Mrs. Gafner was our teacher for that year. Well, here it was 1951 and we were in the high school, boy, how time flew. Little we knew and realized then but time would fly rnuch faster in the next five years. Under the calm and collected care of Mr. Kelly we got our first taste of high school life. Bells ringing, kids scrambling for the next class with a different teacher, opening and closing our lockers: oh, what fun. Soon we were used to all this mad confusion though, and to increase the size of the class were Sylvia Hayduk, and Pat Simons from Lowell, and Loretta Dykhoff from Oriskany Falls. We experienced our first field trip this year when we were escorted to Cooperstown by Mr. Kelly and Miss Thompson. The year of 1952 saw us under the wings of Mrs..M01'l'0W- This. OUI eighth year of school, was increased by Judy Hewitt from Rome. We took two more field trips this year, one to Utica and the other to Albany where we visited the state museum and Capitol buildings, we climaxed that trip by stopping at Howe Caverns. Before we realized it, there we were in our freshman year. With Mr. Wetherell as our advisor we had two activities which were, of course, dances. We also had some newcomers this year. Gloria Ashley and Hubert Pritchard joined us from Spencer Settlement. Our freshman class officers were President, Lloyd Storeyg Vice President, Neil Swingruberg Secretary, Doreen Ryan: and Treasurer, Maryann Fallat. In the years of 1954 and 55 during our sophomore year Lois Shumaker and Yvonne Hand joined us from Rome. Mr. Kelly was our advisor this year and again we had two activities which were dances. We ended our sophomore year with a class picnic at Verona Beach. Officers for our tenth year of school were

President, Neil Swingruberg Vice President, Donee Oster: Secretary, Pat Goer- ingg Treasurer, Maryann Fallat. The years of 1955 and 56 saw us in the homeroom of Mr. Grant. He was not only our homeroom teacher but also our advisor. We were busy this year with such activities as selling stationery, sponsoring a turkey dimmer, food booth at the football games, and two dances for the year. We were in charge of decorating for the Junior-Senior prom also. We got our class rings this year which made us fully realize we were reaching our goal. Officers for the year were President, Tom Wetherell: Vice President, Donee Osterg Secretary, Pat Goeringg and Treasurer, Maryann Fallat. The Class of '57, begirmingits final year in the fall of 1956 in Mr. Mudge's homeroom, was SOOH I0 realize that the high school days are the 'best days of your life. We began the year off as any other Senior class by electing class officers and an advisor. The officers were Tommy Wetherell as president: Donee Oster as vice presidentg Maryann Fallat as Treasurer: and Marty Fros- chauer as Secretary. Mr. Mudge was our advisor. In September, as other seniors before us,we had a food booth at the School Fair. This year we also conducted the magazine campaign, sold Christmas cards, sponsored a ham dinner, presented the senior play, Stranger in the Night, and sponsored several dances. Two which were successful record hops, a Christmas dance and a Christmas formal. Our senior class picnic has been planned, our trip to New York City is one which will always bring back wonderful memories. Last but not least our yearbook was published, thanks to the hard work of its editor, Judy Hewitt. As we stop and look back and go through the years, each one of us finds special memories in the events which have been mentioned. We feel a deep regret that these good times and friends will never be replaced. Through the future years of our life we will always cherish these few years which we spent in good old Westmoreland.
