6111.95 J-listary Hurray! shouted the Freshman class of W e s t mo o r e High School, as they rushed up the high school steps on a Septemb e r mo rning back in 1950. We were an excited group, lost in a new world! We forgot our shyness and began to let our upper class- men know that we had arrived. After several weeks of getting acquainted, we elected our class officers and settled down to a year of hard work. After our first high s chool exams were completed, we were happy to learn that we would start the new term as Sophomores. The summer passed very quickly, and we entered our Sopho- more year with only 28 members. As we settled down to another year of study, we decided that Sophomores should be more digni- fied than Freshmeng so we changed completely our unruly ways. The next year we became Juniors, and we kept Clinton Comer as president to lead us, the sophisticated Juniors, down the path of success. We must have been a headache to the faculty that year, with our excitement over planning a banquet for the Seniors. With help from Mrs. Shields, we made the banquet a success: and we are sure that everyone present will remember it. Our class play came in Novemberg and we were nervous, since this was our first experience before a large audience. This was not all, however, that made up our busy year. There was also the task of choo sing our class rings. Then, graduation night came, and we, happy at the tho ught of taking their places, showed our appreciation to the Seniors. In September of 1954, we entered Westmoore High School as different students. Deep in our hearts we were thankful to all who had helped to prepare us for the hard ta sks that lay before us. We had twenty students to begin our last year under the guidance of Miss Walton. Many things lay before us. First, we gave our class play called Hillbilly Weddin'. Then, we unde rtook the laborious task of publishing an annual. As our annual goes to press, we still have the job of selecting our invitations and making plans for graduation. Two things which we are looking forward to with a great deal of pleasure are the Junior-Senior Banquet, where we are to be the guests of honor, and our trip to Washington the last week-end in April. Our years in high school have slipped by all too quickly, and now we are nearing the end of our long journey. As we graduate, we approach the unknown and untravelled portion of our trail--the future. Bidding farewell to our teachers, friends, and school will be hard. Parting, however, will be made easier by the gratitude in our hearts for the preparation they have given us for whatever may await us in the future.
