We were an excited group, lost in a new world! We forgot our shyness and began to let our upper class- men know that we had arrived. After several weeks of getting acquainted, we elected our class officers and settled down to a year of hard work. After our first high s chool exams were completed, we were happy to learn that we would start the new term as Sophomores. The summer passed very quickly, and we entered our Sopho- more year with only 28 members. As we settled down to another year of study, we decided that Sophomores should be more digni- fied than Freshmeng so we changed completely our unruly ways. The next year we became Juniors, and we kept Clinton Comer as president to lead us, the sophisticated Juniors, down the path of success. We must have been a headache to the faculty that year, with our excitement over planning a banquet for the Seniors. With help from Mrs. Shields, we made the banquet a success: and we are sure that everyone present will remember it. Our class play came in Novemberg and we were nervous, since this was our first experience before a large audience. This was not all, however, that made up our busy year. There was also the task of choo sing our class rings. Then, graduation night came, and we, happy at the tho ught of taking their places, showed our appreciation to the Seniors. In September of 1954, we entered Westmoore High School as different students. Deep in our hearts we were thankful to all who had helped to prepare us for the hard ta sks that lay before us. We had twenty students to begin our last year under the guidance of Miss Walton. Many things lay before us. First, we gave our class play called Hillbilly Weddin'. Then, we unde rtook the laborious task of publishing an annual. As our annual goes to press, we still have the job of selecting our invitations and making plans for graduation. Two things which we are looking forward to with a great deal of pleasure are the Junior-Senior Banquet, where we are to be the guests of honor, and our trip to Washington the last week-end in April. Our years in high school have slipped by all too quickly, and now we are nearing the end of our long journey. As we graduate, we approach the unknown and untravelled portion of our trail--the future. Bidding farewell to our teachers, friends, and school will be hard. Parting, however, will be made easier by the gratitude in our hearts for the preparation they have given us for whatever may await us in the future. Was it you? Oh, yes, no doubt--But do you know. . . Ten years have passed, and a vast change has come into our lives. Now let me see. . . Janice Ward, whose future was decided before graduatio n, is now keeping house for her husband and two children in their beautiful home in the suburbs of New York City. Charles Hus s ey is the man to call when you need to have the sink unstopped. Iunderstand he is a first-rate plumber. He should be--he out his teeth on a pair of his father's pliers. Doris Cagle is now running a nursing home. She is so kind to all of them...Who knows, maybe some millionaire will die and leave her afor- tune someday. And say, who is that nurse coming out of room 209 in Duke Hospital? Jean Hussey, of course. Who wouldn't get sick just to have her hold his hand ? Farrell McNeill is the new outfielder you have been reading about in the newspaper. He is playing with the Yankees and has just replaced Mickey Mantle in the center field position. Velna Cheek has just celebrated her 8th wedding anniversary. She has done p r etty well, don't you think?---Living with a MAN that long! Do you like beans? Ah, yes, most of us do. lf you want some of the best, step in at Luck's Bean Factory in Seagrove, N. C. Clinton Comer is now the manager there. Margie Lou Burgess is the mo st famous woman wrestler in the country. Cauliflower Lu has a hammer-lock that no one can unlock. Mr. Senator is the title thatJarnes Hussey is going by nowg in the election of 1960, he became a U. S. Senator at the age of TWENTY- THREE ? ? ? Bill Garner, who is now married, is one of the top singe r s on the Grand Old Opry. He has become famo us for his singing Courtin' in the Rain. Marjorie Hus s e y won the most blue ribbons at the fair this year. No wonder her husband is putting on weight, with her doing the cooking. Weldon Craven is now in the Navy. He really is a he ro , whe n it comes to girls! Another member of our class has answe red he r country's cally Mildred Teague is a lieutenant in the Waves. lf you should decide you want a new hair-do, just drop in at Norene's Beauty Salon located on Main Street in Seagrove. It is owned and opera- ted by Norene Sheffield. Betty Jean McNeill is the edito r of the best-selling newspaper in Moore County---The Robbins Tattler. Rachel Morgan, since finishing college, has been teaching the third grade at Westmoore, the noisiest class since the class of '55, Don't you believe that these things will come true in the next ten years ? Have a little faith! Worse things than these have happened! las!
