Four long years ago some eighty-five Wide-eyed freshmen entered W.-U. Y. Since that time these students have come up in the World scholastically athletically and so cially They are the senior class of 48 i Coulson president, Iack Buser vice president, Pippi The eniors began the year by electing Charles Puma treasurer, and Kay Miller secretary. On December 5 the annual class play was presented. Miss Allendorfer directed the production of Our Hearts Were Young and Gay which starred Sallie Watson Anderson and Pippi Puma as Cornelia Otis Skinner and Emily Kimbrough. Soon after the play was given the Christmas dance took place. Every- one had a wonderful time at the Sno-Ball including Santa Claus, who presented pop-corn balls. Herb Sherer, lack Buser, and Bob Homonay represented the seniors in Student Council. This organization Was ably led by Iohn Hipp. The seniors proved themselves to be apt leaders in other organizations: Iohn Hipp in the W-Club and Hi-Y, Sallie Watson Anderson in the Y-Teens, Earle McKeever in the Key Club, Bob Squire in the Spanish Club, Rosalyn Romanoff in the French Club, Sonny Holtzman in the Photo Club, lack Stinson in the Biology Club, and Aileen Shaffer in the Cvym Club. Varsity lettermen were numerous among the seniors. Eight boys earned their awards in foot- ball and four in basketbell. Senior boys also participated in track and baseball. Both boys and girls took part in a Well rounded schedule of intramural sports. They fought vigorously to defend their class in badminton, basketball, baseball, deck tennis, volley ball, and archery. The honor roll usually showed the names of a large number of seniors who worked hard to be scholastically proficient. Much of the success of the senior class is due to the able guidance of Miss Margaret Greer, Miss Roberta Williams, Miss Iosephine Williams, Mr. Carl Engh, and Mr. Leonard Spence.
