With the help of their capable advisers, Mrs. Wineman, Mrs. George, Miss Cohoe and Mr. Mcllnay, they elected tall, dark Herb Sherer as president, fun-living Karl Park as vice-president, popular dependable Pippy Puma as treasurer, and brilliant Earle Mc- Keever as secretary. Home room representa- tives to Student Council were then elected with Bob Squires, Iohn Hipp, and lack Buser being the ones named. Two meetings were held in order to arrange lor the class party. The party was held in the high school gym on Friday I Wt 5 Nov. 23 and everybody had a grand time. The sophomores didn't fare too well at the beginning of the year scholastically but as the year progressed they began to pick up momen- tum. A familiar honor roll name was Earle McKeever. The sophs displayed their ability to act by putting on a Gay Ninties Review for the assem- bly. The play was written and directed by Mrs. George. In the world of sports the sophomores were led by Iohn Hipp, a versatile all-round athlete, who played on both the football and the

David Coulson supported our cagey quintet as a guard on the varsity basketball team, while Iohn Strank, Sheldon Hunter, and Dick Hornick added to the scores of the Iunior Varsi- ty. Patty Lou Wright and Iean Rogers helped to boost the student body's morale by their pep and sparkle as cheerleaders. In the field of intra-murals, both boys' and girls' teams illus- trated once again the fine spirit and good sportsmanship which have been characteristic of the class. They made up a large percentage of the personell of the band, orchestra, Photography Club, Girl Reserves, Hi-Y, W-Club, girls' chorus, and mixed chorus. Carol and her staff of classmates endeavored to offer their school-mates an attractive and well written publication. Many of the juniors also took part in assembly programs of all sorts. Whether it was a dramatic, musical, or humorous assem- bly the cast almost always included juniors. On February l the junior English class pre- sented two excellent scenes from The Mer- chant of Venice . Three junior boys, Bennett Braude, David Cohoe, and Regis Stinely, made up the stage and lighting crew that always supplied the correct effects for our programs. Since the interest in dramatics ran very high. the prospects for an all-star cast for next year's Senior Play are excellent. I X ltr-'. Z I. -.g II.-H. I.--, III-'I r K I-,.- L :qi ll- -. Sherer played on the I. V. basketball team. Many of the sophomores took an active part in intramurals. Both the boys and girls offered stiff competition to the other classes in basket- ball, mushball, ping-pong and all the other intramural activities. The sophomores had many other talents. The orchestra, band, and chorus accepted a great number of sophomores as members. In cheer- leading Rosalyn Romanoff led the way for the sophomores. The sophomores were represented at most of the social affairs by a large turnout. Many of them were seen at the numerous gym jams after the basketball games and at the class dance. The sophomores closed their school year with a dance which was highly successful for everybody. The juniors of next year have much to look forward to and, being prepared mentally and physically, will try to make it the best year they have ever had. up
