Stanley Obitts. 8A ov While finally maintaining that faith is also fiduciary, that is, that it includes a whole-soul trust in a commitment to Jesus Christ, the orthodox view of faith finds as logically grior the assent to some propositional truths about that Person in whom faith as fiduciary is being placed. Since these proposi- tions are believed because their truth derives from God's authority, they are immediate obiects of faith, but not the ultimate obiect. The latter is God, for the propositions are about and from Him. In knowing Him by faith, the cognitive or knowing relation between us and Him consists in our believing His truths.
