Who is God? What is man? How can we know truth? What orders the universe? These are our ques- tions - important questions, vital questions. The Department of Bib- lical Studies and Philosophy offers answers. In this department it is hoped that the student will gain a thor- ough understanding of both the Old and New Testaments from the standpoint of spiritual conduct, as well as historical setting and liter- ary form. The year's program was enhanced with lectures, panel dis- cussions, and informal seminars offered to all interested students. A student in this department is trained to be a leader in inter- personal relationships and to share in the guidance and training of others. The training of teachers at Westmont in both the elementary and secondary levels in- cludes one semester of student teaching under a master teacher in Southern California schools.
