He has devoted much time and effort to the boys in his Health and Physical Education classes. Recently he has been instrumental in organizing our annual Gym Show. Gus has given his services to this school and its students unselfishly for many years. As we leave Westminster we shall always remember this inspirational leader of young people. It may not be the first: we hope it will not be the last. As a reminder of 1961 in Westminster Junior High School it will bring you first many happy recollections and later many smiles as you think back on how you looked and felt at this age. Any age should be but a challenge to greater effort and more meaningful accomplishments. The poet, Oliver Wendell Holmes, upon viewing the abandoned shell of a small sea animal, felt that people should cast away outgrown shells that bind them to the small, narrow present. His call to constantly enlarging ideas and challenges should be a spur to us all. Build thee more stately mansions, O my soul, As the swift seasons roll! Leave thy low-vaulted past! Let each new temple, nobler than the last, Shut thee from heaven with a dome more vast, Till thou at length art free, Leaving thine outgrown shell by life's unresting sea! - - From The Chambered Nautilus -4-
