Junior Band 2 1 XXL. This year Junior Band consists of about '75 pieces. It is also under the capable hands of Mr. Lloyd Johns. By the time the student enters this band he has a pretty good understanding of music, plays his instrument correctly. The band makes field trips to elementary schools to enable the sixth grade students to become more interested in some instrument. Also, the band has played for Golden Age Clubs who just enjoy hearing the music. Beginners Band The Beginners' Band is made up chiefly of seventh grade students who have had little or no musical back- ground. The job of their director, Mr, Lloyd Johns, is to work with the students and get them playing the instru- ment which the student likes and is best qualified for. The main purpose of this organization is to prepare these students for the Junior Band to which they will advance, if they prove themselves worthy and hard working. -45-

Mr. Johns is aided by the ninth graders in teaching the pupils to play the instruments. The ninth graders hope that these people meet with great success in future years. Junior Orchestra The Junior Orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Lloyd Johns, is a group of eighth and ninth grade students who have worked hard to attain and maintain a position in this group. The members of the sections, except for the strings, are also in the Junior Band. The Orchestra this year has played in the Instrumental Spring Concert and for P. T.A. -4,4- 4
