Honor Societg 4 4 ATHENA CHAPTER INSTITUTED DECEMBER 8, 1955 Seated: Chuck Mangin, June Pihl, Iudy Bocianowski, Dorothy Zirkle, Jim Mosher, Dave Spires. Standing: Mr. Mallory, Faculty Advisor, Gayle Ketzelg Dennis Albert, Dennis Whiteman, Doug Burns, Bonnie Peters. Some of the members of our student body are exceptionally good students. As such they are eligible to be elected by their teachers to National Junior Honor Society. The students elected possess the following: lj good scholarship, 23 service to the school and community, 35 leadership, 45 citizenship, 53 strength of character. This year the members of our Honor Society have ushered at the Instrumental Spring Concert, the Choral Spring Concert, and the joint McDowell, Westminster, West Lake P,T.S,A, at which Mrs. Whitney spoke. Student Council Officers: Allyn Detzel, Secretary, Aimee Ebert, President, Tim Roessler, Vice Presidentg Ed Bambauer, Treasurer: Mr. Mallory, Faculty Advisor. Other members: D, Albert, M. Lupo, D. Burns, S. Henneous, E. Carroll, S. Legenzoff, D. Kern, T. Watson, C, Gorney, T. Faulkner, L. Cloyd, M. Trigilio, C. Vanderwende. The Student Council is the group of students who represent us according to home rooms. They help Mr. Swift make some of the rules concerning the running of the school and some ofthe student activities. This year the Student Council has held a skating party and a variety show, both of which were successful. Theyhave also sponsored a suggestion box which is located in the Library. At the present time they are preparing a Student Handbook for next year. ' -41-

The monthly publications of this paper have proved to be interesting to all grades. The newspaper is headed by Aimee Ebert, their editor. The faculty advisor for this organization is Miss Helmick. Jackna, G, Gerhlein, Mrs. Busch, Faculty Advisor. During the past year a number of ninth grade students, interested in the field of art, have participated in the functions of our Art Club. These students have contributed their time and talents in the form of services to the teachers. Besides assisting the teachers with bulletin boards and other art projects, they work on worth while pro- jects of their own such as ceramics and copper tooling. Projection Crew 4 n 1 The Projection Crew is an organization in which a certain number of students learn the use of projectors, tape recorders, and the like. The main function of this organization is to secure films from a film rental company and show these films for the teachers thus making it easier on the faculty, who then do not have to set up the equip- ment. The Projection Crew is made up of seventh, eighth, and ninth grade students and is under the direction of Mr. Sam Petruso. -42-
