Science Our teachers of General Science are Mr. Nason and Mr. Henning. This course serves as a background for the more advanced studies at McDowell. Astronomy, sound, light, heat, metallurgy, and biology were only a few of the subjects we studied. The teachers performed interesting experiments using chemicals, metals, and electricity, among other things. Those of us in the Seventh and Eighth grades learn some of the basic principles in science. Mr. Hall teaches the one semester course. -34-

A 1. Home Economics Mrs. Murphy teaches the Home Economics classes. In Home Ec we learn sewing and cooking. Aprons, pin- cushions, and breakfast planning are the projects for the seventh grade. In eighth grade, we make skirts and plan luncheons, while we in the ninth grade may choose the garments we wish to make and we also learn how to pre- pare dinners. -36-
