In the History classes, we learn about our country and the world from ancient to present times. The Geography classes give us a better understanding of the many different ways of life in our country and throughout the world. We who study Civics learn about the types of government and their organization, citizenship, elections, and Pennsylvania history. The Teachers of Social Studies are Miss Helmick, Mrs. Butler, Mr. Henning, Mr. McCoy, Mr, Petruso, and Mr. Carlotti. These teachers strive to give us a better understanding of the world in which we live. -32-

Mathematics Mrs. Hill, Mr. Christoph, Mr. Golden, and Mr. Foye teach us the basic principles of mathe- matics. In this course, we study percentage, in- surance, geometrical construction, and the study of checks and banking. Mr. Christoph also teaches the Algebra class- es, which is our first course in higher mathe- matics. -31-

latin ln the ninth grade we have for the first time the opportunity of learning a foreign language. Through the patient build-up of vocabulary and syntax we acquire a reading knowledge of the Latin language. By the end of the year each one of us feels a personal satisfaction in being able to read in the language of the Romans about the deeds, myths, and the life of the Romans. Singing Latin Songs such as Adeste Fideles and reading orally make this class interesting and enjoyable. -33..
