All of the one hundred girls are re- quired to attend a majority of the sports events that Westy's athletes participate in. The girls follow the cheerleaders in yelling and cheering the boys on to VICTORY. During football season the Pep Club sponsored a drill team in which about half of the girls took part. They performed intricate drills during the half times along with the pompon girls and the cheerleaders. Each of the drill team members is entitled to wear ared star on her sweater for her work. Any girl is eligible to join Pep Club if her grades are average, she makes a written request, and she is accepted. After one year in the club any girl is eligible to try out to be a cheerleader, banner girl, or pompon girl. 145
