Leading the offensive team was Junior Jerry Laman at quarterback. Aiding in the back- field were Pat Russell, Daryle McCarty, Leon Cordillo, and Dave Graves. The offensive line was made up of Don Wendler, Bill Rossman, Gordon Bartz, Steve Snyder, Mike Weingarten, George Borchers and Gary Graves. These boys also made up the defensive team. A second offensive team in the junior varsity was made up of Gary Steele, Jim Thorpe, Steve Shepard, Rod Poland, Mike Gerton, Ron Heald, Bob Hill, Jerry Strickland, Ed Lowe, Paul Ament, and Russ Wilson. 121

DENIS NELSON DAN DURAN Cross- ountgf mi 'f RICK KAYSEN RICH BORCHERS Westy's Cross Country team had one of the most successful seasons in its history this year. The old school record for the mile and a half of 7:29 was broken by both Dan Duran and Rick Kaysen at the league conference meet at Cherry Creek. Dan Duran now holds the school record at 7:07.
