We,ll remember your Dad burn it,s!,' and the smell of rotten eggs when your chemistry class studied sulfur. VVe'll remember the hours you spent after school helping us with our Hscientificl' problems and experiments and your sense of humor. Your reward is the students whom you have inspired to make science their life's work and, too, the students who use science in their everyday lives. With your devotion to teaching and your knowledge of all phases of science, you are truly a teacher in the fullest sense of the wordg and we, the class of '56, dedicate this yearbook to you, Mr. Myers, with deep affection. G 51 Foreword W lllllltlt 'A I fifigolvxg 4 QA, 41 OLSH IN PRESENTING THIS 1956 EDITION OF THE WESTIVIINSTER HIGH SCHOOL OWL . . . Let us, as students, take one last walk through these hallowed halls. Along the way Weill stop to thank our patient teachers and understanding classmates for help- ing us to become better citizensg through the knowledge that we've gotten from textbooks, and knowledge that We,ve gotten from being together and Working together at Westminster High School. Ms 60015,- E 161 .- ' Qnfing ' . Si: Pritwillal TIN L. EARHART EN MR. QU Every public school has many obligations in a democratic society. Those en1'olled represent a major segment of American youth who must soon shoulder their share of the many responsibilities in this growing nation of free people. You as stu- dents must be prepared to analyze critically many local and national conditions. You must be pre- pared to apply your knowledge, understanding, and skills acquired during your school careers, not only for the perpetuation of freedom through the un- folding of truths, but for the improvement of all conditions for all mankind. The humble, but great Thomas Jefferson once said, lf a nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be. Q Though the overall challenge is a continuous and prodigious one, we have faith in your ability to view clearly your individual tasks and provide your own positive contribution. J ,a -f1 2. ,M we f aww Publications Advisor J. WAKEFIELD lVIcGILL Now to introduce our advisor, lVIr. J. Wakefield lVlcGill . . . fthe gentleman on the rightj . . . The most striking thing about our esteemed friend, is not his white blazer, neither is it his white fwell almost WhiteD hairg but to any OWL Staff member Mr. lVlcGill,s most distinguishing ufactorv is definitely the white convertible that he so graciously chauffeurs. The '4Gilded Cagev is usually referred to as Hour , car. Aside from his readily accessible auto, there are many other nice things we could state about our advisorg but we would prefer to let them be understood rather than said . . . Thanking Mr. McGill, we glance to the left and behold the Bard himself . . . William tbetter known as g'Willie',j Shakespeare, who has become our mascot. His cool contemplation and level head has served us well. ,.,, Fm -mm These Remember rg is'1 Classes?
