1 Class History . . . Perhaps more events of world interest have occurred during the pas! five years in which the 1942 graduating class has attended Westminster High School than have happened in any similarspan of time. Since high school ambitions form the basis for future life, it is appropriate that we. as graduating Seniors, record our achievements, and departing leave behind us footprints onthe sands of time. We were Seventh Graders We willingly took our places on that September morning, for we wished to orientate ourselves to new surroundings. Our feature production of this year was an operetta, The King Sneezes , During the year an im- portant innovation was instituted. Our cTaSs enjoyed the privilege of being the first seventh grade to graduate in the new high school build- ing. With this milestone behind us, we turned our backs upon elementary school, and resolutely strode forward, eager and yearning for the four years of high school which lay ahead of us. We were Freshmen We seem to be a class of firsts . Along with the introduction of a pub- lic address system in the school, came our first experience with home room organization. We were not able to take an active part in the ex- tracurricular schedule during our Freshman year, but we awaited., eager- ly the day when we could do our share in this tytpe of activity. We were Soplzomores Time passed, and we now were Sophomores. This year a few students were selected for practice- in outside activities, and occasionally nervous Sophomores could' be observed taking part in assemblies. We also assum- ed more responsbilities, via class organization. Our Valentine Day party pointed the way ahead for bigger and better social affairs. We were funiors As we grew older and wiser, we left the Sophomore class and became Jolly Juniors . This year we took a more active part than ever in the extracurricular activities oi' the school, performing in athletics, the Christmas play, and the senior operetta, The Gondoliers . Our St. Pat- rick's Day party will always be remembered as an event of great success, We are Seniors Seniors We are at last, and War Seniors , subject to many priorities. For suddenly, on December 7, we were startled out of our peaceful exis- tence by the ominous declaration of war. The most direct effect of the present conflict upon our class is that it brings about our graduation at -an extremely early 'date. Nevertheless, we must carry on and aid our home front, Westminster High School. The Senior year is the culmina- tion of all of the dreams that fill our four years of High school, When we became Seniors, we took upon ourselves a burden of respon- sibility, heavier than that assumed ill any other year. Members from 'our class were chosen to be monitors, whose duty it is to keep order in the halls. We received our rings, which symbolize our work while in high school. In the dramatic field, we produced ag minstrel show, and a Christ- mas play, The Saints Return . We held several dances, including a Hall0We'en party, an intitiation hop for our new gym built during this year, our Senior party, a home economics dance, and the Senior prom, an event of color and beautry. And finally we arrived at the two occasions dearest to all of us, class night and graduation. We have now reached the events which close the book of our high school career, and open the way for a larger and fuller life in the outside world.
