The Senior class officers also took part in the Bicentennial decoration of Buckingham Square for Home- coming Week, the United Cru- sades Week, pep rallies and assemblies. These officers met every activities period to dis- cuss affairs directly concerned with the Senior class which in- cluded the organization of the Baccalaureate, the choosing of Senior caps and gowns, and the choosing of graduation an- nouncements. Before many of these activities could be ful- filled, the necessary funds must first be made available. These funds were obtained by the Senior class officers and Coun- cil through their working in concession stands. This year was an especially good one for the Senior class, but could not have been possible with out the support offered by Senior class Advisors, Richard Doug- las and Andria Saunders. 5r The Senior class officers (LEFT TO RIGHT): Jean Jacobs, Bev Schultz, Pat Broderick, Tammy Linn, and Ann Eisman, Pat Broderick and Ann Eisman are shown discussing upcoming events Pat Broderick concentrates on an im- portant issue. Advisor, Andria Saunders smiles because the meeting is going so well. i y udging by that smile on her face, we can ell that Ann Eisman really enjoys her vork. The Senior class is fortunate in having such hard working officers as Bev Schultz and Jean Jacobs. The Class of 77 showed tremendous pride as they started their last year here as under- classmen. They turned a traditional event such as dec- orating Buckingham Square for homecoming, into a personal effort, to visualize their feelings of our country ' s heritage. Their hard work and dedication was not under-minded. The juniors went on to have a very successful and self-satisfying year. They sponsored a great prom, a job to be proud of. Westminster High School can look forward to a great Senior class of 1975. f T 1 ral?rl; ' ' s ' acl ?aXj?niorrep ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' Desmond-President; Robert Membrila- Q 2 Vicki Acevedo, Sabiina Ten ' Doyle Addingto Dan Ah Vet, Kaipo Alarcon, Mike Albright, Randy Albright, Sandy Allen, Rosalyn Aludrez, Barbara Amundso Sharon Anderson Anderson lunette Andersor Mark Arancetebehe Arganda, Kim Arguello, Arroyo, Cabrii Ash, Bob Bailey, Brad Bainbridge, Michael Baker, Cynthia Dona lid Banks, Herb Bar bee, Ron Barberc keck. They began with eagerness and a sense of challenge to go out and be themselves and do something for both the school and the Freshmen class. They sponsored a Christmas dance for the four surrounding schools, which went over very well. They also had their try at decorating Buckingham Square for the annual homecoming, but better things were done. The class of 1979 is all but shy and hesitant. They have pride in both their work and their school and it shows throughout all their hard work and labor. There are almost no boundaries for the class of 1979, with their high hopes and wishes for a successfull future. Their dedication and fortitude will carry them far and nothing will stand in their way. The goals they reach for are just a dream away, and like someone once said, Hopes are built on dreams. f As part •£ a leading country. We are constantly mn the 9 ; Changins our ways mi life. These groups were: the energetic Pepsters who combined much of their effort with talent; the Marcnmg Band, tne Pagentry Corps, and the Lionette Drillteam marched into the ' 75- ' 76 season gloriously in new routines and newly added members. All groups strived for per- fection. PEPSTERS Maintaining school spirit was the Pepster ' s main goal. The five divisions of Pepsters worked equally hard to attain their goals- Varsity Yell and Soph-Frosh Yell aroused spirit in everyone with the many cheers and chants they led; the Song Girls caught the eye of the spectators with their spunky routines to the yells and spirit music; while the Flag Girls performed in a unique way, twirling with each cheer; and the loveable mascot roamed among the crowd in playful antics. The girls attended all pep rallies and most of the sport events. Each group practiced to- gether ten hours per week during the school year. In addition to cheering the Lions on to all of their victories, the Pepsters painted most of the spirit posters seen on campus. They also decorated the team members ' houses. In order to raise money, the Pepsters sold suckers, food in the snack bar during summer 1) VARSITY YELL LEAD- ERS: FRONT ROW-Kar- en Shelton, Sandy Schild- meyer, Becky Brummett. This money nelped pay for poster paint, paper, goodies for the team members, and other items needed in order to make this year a successful one. MARCHING BAND The Lion Marching Band consisted of 125 members, five of whom were band officers. This large group practiced many hours to co-ordinate playing their instruments while marching in difficult formations. During summer school, all new members were enrolled in a two hour class learning the certain techniques used in band perform- ances. Throughout the first semester, the band practiced everyday for two periods, re- hearsing half-time formations and parade selections. Also, in preparation for big per- formances and home half-time shows, they rehearsed together with the drillteam and pageantry corps on Thursday nights. The Marching Band encouraged spirit at pep rallies, football and basketball games, and parades. This year, as an added treat, the band participated in the International Music Festival held in Hawaii during April. To help defray expenses each member sold Christmas candles and trees, raffle tickets, and suckers. PAGEANTRY CORPS Pageantry Corps was a group of 26 girls, newly formed this year. The Corps consisted of Flag Bearers, Tall Banner, and Name Ban- ner Plates. The girls worked very closely with the Marching Band, carrying the school ' s flags and banners at half-time shows, com- petitions and parades. The Corps trained two hours during summer school and four hours at the post session, practicing precision, and sharpness in handling the flags. Throughout the first semester they rehearsed one period per day and on Thursday and Saturday nights. The Pageantry Corps went along with the band to Hawaii. They also raised money sel- ling Christmas candles, held bake sales, spon- sored a March-a-thon, and a dance. DRILLTEAM Another pride of WHS, the Lionette Drill- team, consisted of 111 girls, dedicated to the cause of promoting school spirit through parades, competitions, and many football and basketball half-time shows. In order to raise money for their group, the drillteam held car washes, and an aluminum can drive, sold pompoms, and sponsored a burger bash. During summer school and before school started the Drillteam practiced two-three hours each day, learning routines for pre- game and half-time performances. Practices during the school year were from 6th period, continuing on for about two or three more hours. In addition the six leaders spent many hours after practice, planning the routines for each performance. 132-Motivators 1) SONG GIRLS: FRONT ROW- 2) FLAG GIRLS: FRONT ROW- Mary Cehr, Lori Seymour.
