Calling home to say Happy Easter, my father informed me that Dean Kirby had called to say I was the new yearbook editor. I was slightly shocked. Afterall. l had done only one small yearbook section before. in my sophomore year. Well, I said yes Qfoolishly perhaps, but yes neverthelessj That started an educational experience I shall never forget. The first step required learning all about the darkroom. something I never really mastered Qto which my photo editor will attestj. Secondly, l came to realize just how difficult the entire process really is. This difficulty only increases when combined with a Senior Thesis. Anyway, I guess it is completec if you are now sitting there reading my soap opera. The theme ofthe book is: Westminster, A World in Itself. I could think of no better way to describe my perceptions ot this wonderful, educational, isolated institution in the middle of Missouri. I hope I have not blurred my very real love for this place with occasional sarcasm. If I have, oh well. This book is not a one man production as I sometimes bitched and moaned it was. First, I must thank my photo edtior, Jim Lay, without whom I would have been totally lost. I also wish him well as editor next year. Thanks also to Liz Dunn, assistant editor, who learned through me the real definition of procrastination. I was blessed with some very talented section editors. Cory I-Iohnbaum and Dean Cooper provided steady, reliable work and produced excellent layouts. Dawn Harju stepped in for Kim Woodruff at Classes and Living Units and did a terrific job with that difficult section. A special thanks goes to Dawn Walters who stepped in at the last minute to take over the Student Life Section when Mike Kerr did not return for short- term. Photographers Dan Roques and Jeff Hallman did a great job all year. And a final thanks goes to all my fellow annexites who put up with my bitching, bad moods, and general slobbiness. Without you guys I would have never made it. y earbook- Yearbook- Yearbook- Yearbook- . -TI ! x V 5 gn . The team's 23-7 record earnecl them their first Ozark Collegiate Conference Championship. The team also earned a District 'lo playoff berth for the first time in recent history. Under the leadership of Coach Jim McEwen, the team has also compiled a home win streak of 30 games. Much of the team's success centers around the two senior co-captains, Brad Hilsabeck and Craig Spratt, Hilsabeck was the team leader in rebounds and was second in scoring averaging 48,5 points per game, Spratt's cool demeanor and leadership proved invaluable to a relatively young team, Also aiding the Blue Jay cause were guards Ken Theroff and Cory Hohnbaum. Theroff broke his own school record for assists with 200. breaking his old record by 66 assists. Hohnbaum was the team's leading scorer averaging just over 19 points per game and also led the team in free-throw percentage. The Delts, led by Craig Stefanczyk, dominated all other participants and finished undefeat- ed. The powerful play of frontliners Brad Hilsabeck and Craig lvlclntosh, combined with Stefanczyk's knowledge of the game, was enough to smother the rest of the league. An interesting addition to the league was the varsity woman's team, which replaced the faculty on the schedule. They quickly put to rest any chauvinistic thoughts the men might have harbored by defeating all teams, except the Delts. The Delt v. Varsity match-up was an excellent display of volleyball skills by both sides. Those in attendance were taught how the game is supposed to be played, The post-season tournament provided few surprises except the appearance of the KA's in the finals. This marked the beginning of an electrifying occurrence a new beginning for the young freshmen. New friendships began forming almost immediately. These bonds only grew stronger throughout the year. The sharing of dreams, fears, and sorrows helped unite them and provide the couroge to keep fighting. Some will be unable to accompany the rest of the class at the traditional graduation ceremony, but those who do will only continue to grow closer. The best of luck and wishes for continued success goes out to this very special group and everyone else who endures the Westminster challenge. 1.4 LN nnf 'hf Ll E sv' ' X 1 lm MQ -, 3' Q fr 4 QP X uf .: ,xy .Na 5 .
