Every tradition grows ever more venerable. The more remote is its origin, the more confused that origin is. The reverence due it increases from gen- eration to generation. The tradition finally becomes holy and inspires awe. F. W. Nietzsche With the Columns ceremony, the freshman is initiated into his first Westminster custom, which will be completed on his graduation day. Within the same week class registration is fought through, the student-faculty picnic is endured, and the William Woods Rat Race is enjoyed. At the termination of the weeks festivities, the freshman feels somewhat indoctrinated into the college environment, and alittle more secure in his surroundings. P..
