Robert Browning CA Death in the Desertj During my four years at Westminster many things have changed. We have new buildings, new teachers, new poli- cies, and even a new kind of student. Westminster seems to be coming alive and looking ahead. This is to her ad- vantage. A small college cannot lag behindg it must he a pioneer in the field of education, not a follower. Our size gives us great flexibility. This flexibility is our greatest assetg we have used it to our advantage in the past four years, let us hope that we. continue to do so in the future. ' 'K ' -. This youthfulness carries over into the spirit of the fraternity and shows itself in the vitality, zeal, and acute sense of brotherhood which makes it one of the most prominent frater- nities on campus. Missouri Gamma consistently ranks at the top in scholarship and athletics, and enriches itself with ac- tive community service and social programs. This year, as in the past, we entertained the children from the Missouri State Hospital and gave a Christmas party for those from the Missouri School for the Deaf. We also collected for the United Fund. All told, we at Missouri Gamma feel that we had a very successful year, and that by working together in the bonds of brotherhood we may con- tinue to uphold the fine standard of our fraternity in years to come. 5 ,iii X. Since its inception, the Chapter has stressed the development of a well-rounded chapter and the including of every- phase of fraternity life in its ac- tivities. Sports and social life receive equal ranking. With members on most varsity sports, Sigma Chi participated actively in the intramural program. Numerous social activities were held including the annual Christmas For' mal and spring social event. Merited by sound leadership, the Sigs have secured a sound position in campus leadership. Thus, the brothers of Sigma Chi have proven their worth while never losing sight of their unity within the bonds of Sigma Chi. In its short history it has developed into the largest house on campus. Sarge, the house mascot, has established himself as King of the Hill. We believe the house provides a meaningful, productive atmosphere for inquiry and study. The Independent Student Association has the number one man in the Senior class and the number three man in the Freshman class. One of the members, Mike Duff, received a Rhodes Scholarship. These feats merely dramatize the em- phasis placed on scholarship. To go with the scholastic endeavors are the athletic and social aspects of the house. The Independent Student Asso- ciation has had men on most all the athletic teams and participated in the intramural program. Socially, many fine parties were held in addition to the Christmas formal. 110 Mike Duff, Rhodes Scholar gain- -nl'--:lf ?p 111 fd .-5 L . . XWQ-J.
