I think it is the wisest thing I ever did. Teaching at Westminster has been a sweet icing on the cake of a long career in teaching. I ' ve had the op- portunity to work in an intel- lectually challenging way with fellow faculty mem- bers. I ' ve enjoyed the friendly daily association with students and staff and I know I ' ve had a share in preparing some fine teach- ers who are making and will continue to make a valuable contribution to the profes- sion of teaching. Another major event of the fall was the Globe- trotters — a real experi- ence. eighty-one eighty-two . . . openness is . . . acceptance, patience, dialogue. It is being present to one another, offering at the moment of meeting and throughout the relationship all that is in us of humanity and receiv- ing gladly and humbly all that may come to us from the one who meets us . . .It is impossible to be open and sensitive in one direc- tion without being open to all. Openness to one from another cul- ture, nation, or faith moves us more fully into the stream of humanity and sensitizes us to all persons. Peggy Cleveland eighty-three Throughout the year many di- verse speakers and viewpoints came to Westminster. IVIichael Malzer came from Vienna to dis- cuss business and economics from a European viewpoint. The worth of a nation in the long run is the worth of the individual. Now I am close to seeing the end, and while it has been a struggle, it is a yearbook. It ' s a task I shall always remember, with many varied emotions. I hope somewhere in this book you will find one picture, one quote that has special meaning to you. If that occurs, this book will be a success. Thank you, such a small word, but with so much meaning. There are so many people, and no words, but thanks. First to you, the college, students, faculty and administration, you made it happen. You gave us the events and copy, because you are Westminster 1974. Sec- ondly, to my staff, all of you, without you this could not have been a reality. Robin, Amy, Dale, Tom, Barb, Allison, Cyndie, Steve, and Rick, you have given many hours helping to coordinate these efforts, by working with numerous staff people and giving of your- selves. To each and every staff person, your hours are truly ap- preciated. My special thanks to John Krapp and Jerry Henderson for being there when we needed them, whether to answer ques- tions or sign requisitions. Finally I ' d like to thank my family and Dave for being so patient, especially at deadline time. Without your cool heads I ' d have panicked long ago. The 1974 ARGO is a reality. It has involved countless hours and staff. A joy, at times a hassle, the good times will be remembered. To the seniors. Godspeed and to Amy good luck. Betsy Bilka Editor in Chief 1974 ARGO
