More real progress was made in this period rlian in an other fifteen-year period in Westminster history. Confronted with man perple.xinji problems of college atiministra tion, Dr. Wallace personall ' conducted the arduous task of re isini; and liherali ,in;j: the curriculum, of raising the standard of scholar- ship, of increasing: the endowment, of planning and erectini: new buildings, and of enlarging the campus. Let Westminster toda stand as a record of his achievement. 1 he college was given its Class A rating, the endowment grew to o er three cjuarters of a million dollars, the campus more thati doubled in size, and half of the buildings that were designed for the (juadrangle were erected. I ruly, a remark.able accomplishment for so short ;i time! A fine scholar, a product of the classical education, possessed of a keen, anahtical mind, Dr. WalLice excelled as a preacher. His sermons to the students and f,icult ' were masterful in their critical anal se of the texts and in the superlative beaiit of the diction. He will li e long in the memory of those who knew him well and who appreciated his unusu.al .nbilit . Old Main Memorial , with its beautiful chapel and its shining tower oserloo ' iinL: the campus, -.tands as a fitting monument to a fme scholar and a great executive.
