Xtra special activities were planned by Miss Neal. Talking meant seconds on the board. Happy were the times spent in Magic Circle. Games were played whenever possible and kickball was the favorite. Razzle dazzle of Circus Week found everyone a clown. Around and around on many field trips: Viscaya, Pine Jog, and Snyder Park. Dumb they came in, smart they went OUT. At times the Sixth Graders looked like foreigners. Early in the year they were Greeks, then Romans. In the Spring they each represented a country of modern Europe, dressing in the national costume of that country. During the Christmas season Scrooge and the Spirits were the main theme of our activities. Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn and many celebrities from past and present came alive as biographies and classics were acted out. The mural -time - line gave them an opportunity to display their artistic abilities. They have learned to live with each other and develop meaningful friendships. lt has been a good year. Mrs. Volpitto's class has participated in many things this year. One of them was the annual Colonial Day held on Oct. 31. The students enjoyed each others costumes and the reports each of them gave. Besides this, they learned many new things in art classes. They made their own clay pots which were fired and used for Christmas presents.
