K, I 7, f Science, Moth, at C Music and Physical Education ...ff 5. ln Science, the student learned about and understood the laws of nature and how they work. The student also learned how his body works, and about plant and animal life. Chemistry, Biology ll and Physics were the electives in science. The Math Department offered many courses for the interested student. They included General Math, Consumer Math, Algebra IA, IB, and ll, Geometry and College Review. For the student who really wanted to dig, advanced courses in Algebra ll and Math Analysis were offered. Physical Education not only provided an excellent way for students to keep healthy and fit but developed good sportsmanship. When playing on a team, it's important to be a good sport! Many students discovered special skills, talents and ability for certain sports that they will continue to use after leaving high school. The Music Department had many courses for the interested music enthusiast. They are Music Appreciation, Chorus 7 and 8, Beginning and Advanced Band and Senior High Chorus. Advanced Band and the choruses performed several times a year at school activities, inthe community and in Winter and Spring concerts.

The Business Department offered a large variety of courses. For those who lust wanted to learn to type, personal typing was offered. For the student interested in more advance courses there were advance typing courses, accounting, shorthand, and business law courses. Mrs, Coningsby provided the elementary student with an excellent art program and hours of fun. It was hard to keep the room clean while working on such neat projects such as drawing, painting, and making pottery. The Learning Resource Center was a first for the elementary. As director of the center Mrs. Martin worked with the teacher in finding material to help the student. Mrs, Martin's room combined kits, learning games and books to help with specific problems. She also worked with and held clinics for parents in the VIP program, Parents played a vital role helping in the classroom. The School reaped many benefits from this new CETIIEY, As Librarian, Mrs. Manely had a very busy schedule this year. Ordering and processing books took a great deal of time. She also worked with teachers in gathering audio visual material and books for the class room. Mrs. Manely, as all the students know, helped them find almost any book. Mrs. Manely was not left alone with this job, Mrs. Walls, the new assistant helped. The Radio Broadcasting class was the newest addition to Westminster Academy's classes. Students were taught the basics of radio broadcasting, rules, and regulations set fonh by the F.C.C. They also learned how to make daily program logs, proper breathing techniques, and how to use broadcasting equipment. The class also made their own program Christmas in the Air, Three ot the students had their own shows. Kevin Kalbach and Fiick Bieber's show was Jazz for You. Ron Brown along with Brian Vanderkode's show was The Main Element. The Home Economics Department provided courses that covered a field of subjects. Cooking nutritious appetizing meals was a practical skill offered to the student.
