WRESTLING The Westmar wrestlers, not to be outdone by last year’s impressive record, are out to show that it can be overshadowed. Coached by Milt Martin, the Grapplers have started the season with impressive victories. Westmar opened its season with a victory over Ne- braska State, North Dakota State, and Northern State in a quadrangular meet. Westmar next easily handled Southern State, 47— 0, with State claiming only four points in the in- dividual matches. The Eagle Grapplers next handled Drake easily by a 41—5 score. Dakota Wesleyan found Westmar too strong. West- mar’s wrestlers came out on top, 43—3. Huron also fell to the Westmar Eagles. The West- mar wrestlers won easily by a 34—3 score. The list of wrestling talent assembled at Westmar this year is excellent. Don Huggins, a senior from Maxwell, Iowa, has thus far compiled a 4—1—1 record. Another senior, Phalen Schuler, from Gris- wold, Iowa, has compiled thus far a 4—2 record in the 177 |b. division. Darl Weaver, from Griswold, Iowa, has an outstand- ing record of 7—O in the 123 lb. division. Roger Trulock, a junior from Tyler, Minnesota, has a per- fect 6—O record thus far. Roger wrestles in the 130 Ib. division. Ross Brown from Des Moines, Iowa, is having a fine season, posting thus far a 5—O—1 record in the 160 lb. division. Bill Hoffman, also from Des Moines, has a perfect 40 record. Bill wrestles in the 167 Ib. division. Marlyn Swanson, a sophomore from Morning Sun, Iowa, posted a 5—0 record in the 191 lb. division. In the heavy weight division, Wade Winters has a perfect 7—0 record. “Woody” is a sophomore from Marshalltown, Iowa. Freshman strength is again playing a large part in Westmar’s wrestling success. Paul Poppe, from Grand Island, Nebraska, is 3—1 in the 115 lb. di- vision. Jim Singleton, another wrestler from Des Moines, is wrestling excellently, posting a 4—0 record. Rich Clymer, a freshman from Naperville, Illinois, has a 7—0 record with numerous pins. Rich wrestles in the 152 lb. division. Also seeing meet action thus far were: Dell Weaver with a 3—1 record, Terry Peterson with a 2—O 16] Wade “Woody” Winters showing Southern State how you're supposed to ride.
