DETERMINATION AND WORK The 1964 edition of Westmar College’s Fighting Eagle football team was one of success. It included the school’s first Tri-state conference football title. The 1965 edition is no less spectacular. The Eagle team repeated as champs of the Tri-state confer- ence by tying Midland’s conference record of 5—1. The Eagles overall record is 7—1—1. Never before had there been a repeat champion in the Tri-state conference. The 1965 season provided a chance for the Eagle football team! 146 The enthusiasm and desire were present when head coach Jack Scott and his assistants began conditioning the squad for the coming season. As the season drew nearer the spirit increased. The Eagles wanted that championship for the second consecutive year. The first test for the Eagles was a non-conference game against Graceland. Westmar came shining through with a 21—0 victory.
